Obedience

All dogs should be socialized as puppies and taught acceptable behavior. This is a courtesy to others as well as for the dogs own safety. Nothing makes one more proud than a compliment that "your dog is so well behaved". In an Obedience Trial, a dog is judged on his ability to obey commands and earn titles based on his skill level of Novice, Open, and Utility. Whether you seek a well-behaved pet or formal obedience training, our club has members willing to share their knowledge with you.

  Rally-O

A fun form of obedience, in which you and your dog follow a set course of exercises. The course is arranged with signs indicating the movement to be performed. The dog, heeling next to you and upon your command, executes the exercise indicated on the sign. You will need knowledge of basic obedience commands. On January 2, 2005 our club had 2 Westies receive some of the nation's First Rally Novice titles. These dogs have gone on to finish their Rally Excellent titles.

 
 

Canine Good Citizen (CGC) / Therapy Dog

Dogs who are able to demonstrate good behavior can achieve their Canine Good Citizen Award. This gives the dogs and their owners the opportunity to visit hospitals and nursing homes. A good therapy dog is calm, tolerant and friendly. Visiting with animals can help people feel less lonely, and less depressed. People become more active and responsive both during and after visiting with the dogs.

 
 

Freestyle

The DANCING CRAZE that everyone is doing with their dogs. Freestyle is all about Choreographing dance movements with your dogs natural movement in a musical pattern that is pleasing to the eye. Audiences love to watch you and your dog dance to your favorite song. The dogs have entertained seniors and children alike with their sometimes unexpected antics and interpretation of music. This is truely entertainment that can't be missed.
